Like many writers, Stephanie has read widely and written stories for as long as she can remember. Getting her novel series published remains a dream, and she’s currently completing a Creative Writing MA with Birmingham University that is helping hone her craft and provide focus on steps to achieve that dream. It’s an exciting time.
Stephanie grew up on the edge of the Black Country with lots of access to fields and countryside to adventure in. She and her best friend would go exploring for hours, conjuring their own exciting narratives. She went on to attend Oxford University and read history. As one of a limited number of state school students in her college at that time, she sometimes felt a little bit fish-out-of-water, but she learnt a huge amount and met a host of talented people that have gone on to achieve inspiring things.
Her first move after graduation was to a not-for-profit in the Black Country where she spent time doing community organising. She met more inspiring people and gained a much greater frontline understanding of the lack of equality in society and the passion that exists to create change. It was a privilege for her to spend time supporting efforts to make a difference. After six years and instability in government funding, she opted to retrain as an accountant in a public sector focused team. The variety of roles and experiences that followed built up more inspiration and understanding of how many different stories exist out there to be told. These days, she works as a consultant with a wide variety of clients and continues to try and make a difference.
Throughout it all, writing has been a true love and she has remained incredibly passionate about learning and interested in inclusion matters. She sees a huge opportunity to create change through writing and it’s her hope that sharing what she creates will contribute to hope and progress in this increasingly volatile world.
